Plain version. Redimates has no account system. We keep three things on our server: (1) your License Key + Pro status (so the extension knows whether to lift the free quota); (2) an anonymous stream of which subs and features you use, so we can see what's working — no post content, no comments, no replies; (3) only if you opt in via the side-panel toggle, your typed reply intent and the AI's output, so we can train better prompts. The opt-in toggle is off by default and you can turn it off anytime.
§01 Who we are
"Redimates" (the extension and the site at redimates.com) is operated by an independent developer. Contact: sean@redimates.com.
§02 What we don't collect
- No name, email, profile data, or Reddit account information. We can't see your Reddit login credentials.
- No third-party analytics, tracking pixels, or ad IDs.
- No bodies of posts or comments from the pages you're reading. (See §04b for the small anonymous event stream we do collect — sub names, post IDs, feature usage — and §04c for the opt-in sample stream that includes reply content.)
§03 Data that stays on your computer
The extension keeps a small amount of state in the browser's built-in chrome.storage.local, used only by this extension:
- License Key (if you've activated Pro) — so you don't have to re-enter it.
- License cache — the most recent verification result and timestamp; re-checked every 24 hours.
- Free-tier usage — how many replies you've generated this week, and the timestamp of the current week's start.
- Summary and rules cache — plain JSON of the AI-generated post summary and sub-rules digest, keyed by post or sub, so re-visiting doesn't re-call the API.
- Anonymous install ID — a random UUID generated once when you install. Used to count distinct users on our backend; not tied to your name, email, or Reddit account.
- "Help improve the AI" preference — your on/off choice for the opt-in upload toggle. Default off.
This data never leaves your browser on its own. Uninstalling the extension or clearing site data wipes all of it.
§04a Data sent for reply / summary / translation generation
When you click Generate Reply, Summarize Post, or Translate, the extension sends one request to redimates.com/api/*, including:
- The current Reddit post's title, body, top comments, the comment you're replying to, and the sub's rules — all read from the page you have open.
- The intent you wrote down ("what you want to say").
- The UI language.
- Your License Key (only on the generate endpoint, used to determine Free / Pro).
Our backend forwards the relevant fields to a third-party AI service provider for reply / summary / translation generation. We do not log, save, or retain this request content — it passes through our server and is discarded once the response returns. The provider's handling of that data is governed by its own privacy policy.
§04b Anonymous usage events
When the summary card renders, a comment-decode popover opens, or you successfully insert an AI reply, the extension sends a small event to our backend:
- Subreddit name (e.g.
r/Japan) and Reddit post ID (e.g.1tbimiu). - The "vibe" the AI detected for the post (
question, discussion, etc.). - Which feature you used (
summary_view,decode, orai_reply). - Your UI language, your anonymous install ID, and a timestamp.
We do not send post bodies, comment bodies, your typed intent, or AI-generated replies in this stream. The data is stored in our hosted Redis (Upstash, US East) and auto-expires after 30 days. We use it in aggregate to understand which subs people read and which features are useful.
§04c Reply samples (opt-in only)
If — and only if — you turn on Help improve the AI in the side-panel settings drawer (default OFF), the extension additionally sends, after each successful AI reply:
- The intent you typed in your own language.
- The AI-generated reply text.
- The subreddit, post ID, tone, and length you chose.
- Your anonymous install ID and timestamp.
These samples help us improve our prompts. They auto-expire after 90 days. You can turn the toggle off at any time; future replies won't be sent. Previously-uploaded samples can be deleted by sending your install ID to sean@redimates.com.
§05 Payment and license verification
Payment is processed by Paddle, our Merchant of Record. Per its privacy policy, Paddle collects the billing information it needs (name, email, country, payment method). We never see your full card number. After payment, Paddle sends our backend a webhook containing the License Key and subscription status. We only store that key/value pair (key → active / canceled) in a hosted Redis database, and we don't link the License Key to any name or email.
§06 Cookies and the website
The marketing site at redimates.com uses no cookies and has no analytics tools attached. The site loads Google Fonts, which means Google receives your IP when fonts load (per their terms). The Paddle checkout overlay (only loaded when you click Upgrade) sets cookies per Paddle's own policy.
§07 Data retention
- Local browser data: retained until you uninstall or clear it.
- License Key on the server: retained while the subscription is active or canceled (so it can be restored). On a deletion request, we delete within 30 days.
- Generation request content (post bodies, comments, your typed intent, AI output): not retained — passes through our server and is discarded once the response returns.
- Anonymous usage events (§04b): retained 30 days, then automatically deleted.
- Reply samples (§04c, opt-in only): retained 90 days, then automatically deleted.
§08 Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you, and to object to processing or withdraw consent. For data Paddle holds (name, email, billing), contact Paddle. For the License Key we hold, send the key to sean@redimates.com and we'll delete it.
§09 Minors
Redimates is not intended for users under 13 (or under 16 in jurisdictions where 16 is the minimum consent age). If you're below your country's age of consent, please don't use the service.
§10 Policy changes
For material changes we'll update the date at the top and announce inside the extension. Continued use after a change is acceptance of the new version.
§11 Contact
Questions, deletion requests, anything else: sean@redimates.com.
